What is the main difference between plastic & cosmetic surgery?

Most people use these terms the same. Plastic surgery is the broad term. Under plastic surgery there are two ';branches';...cosmetic and reconstructive.

Cosmetic surgery is where you take a body part that is considered to in normal range for that body part and ';improve'; it (like breast implants or liposuction for bulging thighs).

Reconstructive surgery is where a body part that is damaged or malformed is corrected to look more normal (like cleft palates in children or accident or burn victims). What is the main difference between plastic %26amp; cosmetic surgery?
plastic surgery is like tummy tucks removing bags from under your eyes if someone gets burned they take skin off a good part of your body and use it to make the burns go away.......................cosmetic surgery is like making new eye brows, fuller lips removing cellulite from your bodyWhat is the main difference between plastic %26amp; cosmetic surgery?
I don't think there is a difference. I think the categories are ';reconstructive'; and ';cosmetic'; surgery. Cosmetic is something you just want to look different/better.
Plastic Surgery is just what it says, Surgury, with the use of Plastics involved, mainly used for reconstruction of the face due to blunt trauma,

Cosmetic Surgery can involve many differnet procedures. Liposuction, Face Lifts, Brow Lifts, tummy tucks, and Breast Implants are all considered Cosmetic, because they make you look different. So NO, they are not the same, HOWEVER, many plastic surgeons are the surgeons that do cosmetic surgery; which is why it is often confusing, hope this helps.
