Is this a hard field to get into?I'm really interested in cosmetics?
Yes and no. you have to be more creative and you should be blending different shades with one another to discover new shades. Always keep clothing in mind and merge the shades accordingly. And Hair style puts stars on make-up.
So make yourself all rounder and you will get it. Always try to keep yourself updated with latest trends and try to meet different models etc. so that people could know about you. You can join a Reputed Beauty parlor too.I'm really interested in cosmetics?
i don't think it is, you can open up your own business (depending on where you are) or you can go to hollywood and be a personal makeup artist to the stars! Good Luck...Follow your dreams.
It ones of the most popular feilds, and there are very limited jobs.
No not really you just have to go to a class at a school like college to get help with it.
If you can't get the dream job, consider doing something else in cosmetics. You can start with a business like becoming a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant and work into other avenues from that. If you are interested, you have permission to contact me by email.
no but where are you from cause if youre from depends on how much money you will make. be an estetition and do makeup./
You have to be good at what you do!
You will not get paid much when you start off, to be honest you might not get paid anything so in my opinion you have to be able to financially support yourself (or live with the parents) while pursuing your career because you will start off at the bottom and once you get your name known people will begin to hire you for specific jobs. As far as just going to college I believe there are plenty of art schools (depending on where you live) that have a program for makeup artistry etc...but remember doing make-up for supermodels to make them have camera appeal is quite different than making someone look dead or like a robot.
Good Luck, just keep up your ambition and you'll do wonderfully :)
first go to school to be a facialist. Get a job in a salon doing make up. I have been doing it for 10 years. I am a independent contractor now and have been for 4 years. You have to get established first, do that in a salon. Then go out on your own
It's not really hard to get into. It helps TONS if you live in the Los Angeles or New York areas, and if you know someone in the industry.
Becoming a make-up artist is not hard in itself.
But jobs that woulod have a decent pay are few. It also depends on what kind of make-up you want to do. For example you could become a make-up artist for theatre productions and stage shows (think cirque du soleil for something top notch), or you could become a mak-up artist and just do make-up for models and such.
Putting make-up on movie stars would be a mix of the two above.
The best advice I can give you other than what everyone else said is NETWORK!! get out there, get to know people in the field, having contacts for this kind of job really helps. Being good and experience do too.
Build a portfolio. I am not sure how old you are, but if you go tohigh school, make sure you help out with the make up when/if there are plays and such. Take pictures of the people you have put make up on for future reference.
Help out with local productions... etc.
If you have friends whose facial structure interests you and you would like to put makje up on them, do it and then take pictures of it.
Make yourself a website such as myspace or something and put the pictures on, add other make up artists (or aspiring ones) to your friends lists. Share your work.
Make tutorials for make up. Be it on myspace or youtube. You can do it in a video formal or simply text with different steps (preferably with pictures as well). That is a great way for people who are not interested in becoming make up artists themselves to get to know you.
Basically do everything to get your name out there.
